The brain cane (squiggly cane)

Does it really look like a brain? Well, it depends. On the colors, on the way you wrap the wrapper... to me it looks like an absolutely gorgeous pattern. Let's see how it's done!

 

 Note: this is the East European version of the "brain cane" as I have learned it in 1990. I will present the later version known on the West side of the Atlantic, that was presented by artist Carl Johengen in 2004. That version eliminates the jelly roll in the middle and replaces one of the side sheets of the sandwich with a skinner blend on a thicker setting. The only Western artist that I have seen to date using this specific version of the "brain cane" is Patricia Kimle in her book "Exploring Canework in Polymer Clay" (2013)
